Our story started in 2005, when founder Colby Robinson was just a college sophomore with a pickup truck, a few good friends, and a drive to build something different. What began as a side hustle delivering antique furniture turned into full-service moving, complete with clip-art business cards printed from a local office supply store and a scrappy, grassroots marketing campaign.

By 2009, just after graduation, Colby and the team opened their first official office in Madison, AL, operating two trucks and a whole lot of hustle. In 2013, they expanded into a larger space with five trucks, and in 2018, they took a major leap with a 10,000-square-foot warehouse, eight trucks, and the launch of professional storage services.

Fast forward to today, and This Side Up Moving is proudly serving families across Alabama with 15 trucks, offices in both Huntsville and Birmingham, and a full suite of moving and storage solutions. With nearly 20 years in business and more than 15,000 families moved, we’ve learned how to do things the right way, and we’ve built a reputation for service that goes above and beyond.

Founder Colby Robinson earned his Business Degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), where he also played Ultimate Frisbee. A passionate traveler, hiker, and skier, Colby is also a proud 10-year sponsor of the Huntsville Ultimate Summer League. His wife and business partner, Kristy Robinson, plays an essential role in the company’s daily operations and long-term success. Together, they’ve created a people-first culture that defines everything we do.

We believe that the backbone of any business is its people, and at This Side Up Moving, we’ve built our team from the inside out. Our management team is made up of long-time employees who’ve grown with the company, gaining hands-on experience and deep insight into the moving industry along the way.
